Quarantine Art Gallery

I put out a call for art, accepting any medium from painting to digital design to audio pieces and written works. I have curated a digital gallery of the creative outlets people have turned to in quarantine, specifically to see how people have used creativity to escape from the scary reality we live in right now. I received works from acquaintances, good friends, essentially strangers, getting a more nuanced visual understanding of how people have been creatively coping.Â

aerial photos while personally flying plane – adobe illustrator
Between weeks of fog bad weather, fear, anger and lack of motivation I’ve found spurts of inspiration. These have taken the form of a couple photos I like, and an attempt at graphic design. Adobe made their software free, so I tried it out and liked what I made. The photos, I took from the cartoon airplane. Flying without a destination, trying to see the ground the way a cloud might, has been my escape during these times. I thought it would be appropriate to show you my home, since its where I have been watching the pandemic unfold. From the time I was twelve until I was eighteen I rarely ever left this jut of land, and for the last 5 weeks the same has been true. The lighthouse is a constant in my days. Its where I ride my bike to and watch the waves. When I’m there I like to sync my breath with the sound of the water meeting the shore. Sometimes its calm, other times its violent. Either way I never stay that long because the lighthouse is the village police station and I always feel like I’m being watched.
